YOG Song

Sing Singapore 2010 is a song competition that aims to engage songwriters and music lovers from around the world to be part of the first Youth Olympic Games through music.

Organised by the Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee in partnership with the National Youth Achievement Award Gold Award Holders' Alumni and Central Singapore Community Development Council, the competition has attracted many composers, including young students from schools, to participate.

Our student, Tierney Lee from 6D has written a song 'What It Takes' for the above competition. Please show him your support by giving him you vote.

Simply follow this link http://www.singsingapore2010.nyc.sg/ to vote for the song.

Greetings from Mdm Toh

decteceDear parents of 4A

Greetings to you. I am Mdm Toh, your child's Mathematics this year. It has been 2 weeks and I am getting to know each child better, not just in terms of names, but also discovering the personality of every individual. I am sure your children are also getting to know each of their subject teachers better too.

Just some updates on how we have progressed in class:

1. By the end of Week 3, I would have finished teaching Unit 1: Numbers to 10 000.

2. Filing of worksheets will be done in class weekly. The files will be returned to all pupils after we have completed and filed one topic. Please look through their work and sign on the Content Page. They are to bring back their files the following day. Should you need the file at any time, just ask your child to let me know and I will allow him to bring it home.

3. Usually, there will be Math Homework given to your children almost on a daily basis. This is to build up the rigour and discipline of the subject. I am also aware that many of your children have many commitments after school. I hope you will support your children in term of planning and managing their schedule so that they can cope with the demands of school and other curricular activities. In the event that your child is unable to cope with work given, please do not hesitate to inform me. We will try to strike a balance for the children. Ultimately, all of us want the best for each and every of them.

That's all for now.
Have a nice weekend!

Reminders
13 January 2010.

1. Please remember to write in your journal. I want you to tell me more about yourself, ie. Your likes, dislikes, ambitions, in fact anything that you would like me to know about you. You can beautify your journal entry with pictures, illustrations (drawings), etc. This is Compulsory☺
2. For those who have yet to give me the payment for the subscription of “What’s up”, please do so by tomorrow. (With the exception of those with (NYPS) siblings who had already subscribed beforehand.)
3. For those without a spelling/journal exercise book, please ensure that you do so by tomorrow.

Announcement

Here’s a cool link for a dosage of twisted/fractured fairy tales. They are twisted because their endings/characters had been changed. The stories are rather imaginative, quirky and hilarious. You can write similar stories and squeeze your creative juices just by asking yourself this question…”WHAT IF?”☺ Enjoy Folks!!

Science E-research

Dear all,

You are tasked to find out about the 4 processes that take place in the life cycle of a plant. The life cycle should already be copied in your Science note book along with where the 4 processes take place. Please accomplish the following:

1. Name the process
2. Provide a short description of the process
3. State why the process is necessary

You have the weekend for this E-research as it's the first one that we're trying. We will discuss this Tuesday.

Please note that we will be doing our mealworm and plant growing next week. You will need some materials. Details will be up soon!

Welcome to 4A Class Blog!

Salutations! Welcome to our class blog. I am honoured to be the Form and English Language teacher of Primary 4A. The respective subject teachers and I will be putting in our best effort to guide you towards academic excellence. In addition to that, most importantly, we hope to instill good social/moral values in each and every one of our beloved pupils.

My expectations

1.I expect my students to hand in their assigned homework on time. A few
students have failed to do this in this second week of term 1. I did not enforce any form of punishment to this group of students this time round. I understand that it could be a stressful week for you, adapting to a new environment, with new teachers and classmates. Unfortunately, starting from next week, there shall be no more excuses. I will inform your parents if this problem persists.

2.I expect my students to listen attentively when a teacher is delivering his/her lesson. This will ensure that you understand the concepts that the teacher is trying to deliver to you. By doing this, you will then be able to pose questions pertaining to
that topic at the end of the lessons or even request for the teacher to evaluate further.

3. I expect my students to be respectful towards teachers and fellow classmates/schoolmates. No expletives, vulgarities and profanities allowed. A harmonious and pleasant learning environment is vital for students who wish to excel in their studies.

Please check our class blog for updates, important announcements, reminders and administrative issues. Have a pleasant evening ahead.

In the meanwhile, here are some photographs of my gorgeous, helpful and intelligent pupils of 4A☺

Mr Firouk
